MBBS in UAE is a 5/6 years course depending upon the university. Some offer it for 5 years while in others this extends up to 6 years program. MBBS in UAE is a program of extensive teaching and comprises of preclinical and clinical phases followed by internship when it comes to a 6-year program. The initial 2 and half years are for the preclinical phase and emphasize the theoretical studies. The classroom teaching program commences in late August or in the month of September. Each academic year consists of 2 semesters. On successfully qualifying the preclinical phase, a student is promoted to the clinical phase which involves an emphasis on the practical study in the hospital settings along with theoretical lectures. The session for the clinical phase commences in the month of February. The teachings are carried out in the hospitals, clinics, healthcare centers, and facilities provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

Students at this phase are trained to acquire the technical and clinical skills that are essential to practice medicine. Students are divided into small groups of 6-10 students in each group to practice examining patients under the supervision of trained staff. This phase includes ward rounds, observations in the OT and procedures, group discussions, and case studies. After the clinical phase, a full year of internship is also part of the curriculum.

Admission Process in UAE

Eligibility for MBBS in UAE

  • An applicant must be a minimum of 17 age as of 31st Dec in the year of applying for admission
  • An applicant must have completed a minimum 12 years of schooling
  • An applicant must have studied Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) in 10th, 11th, and 12th standards. Studying English is a mandatory requirement for an Indian national
  • Minimum 75% in 10+2 for an Indian national
  • In Indian applicant must be NEET qualified Non-UAE applicants must submit an Equivalency Certificate of their High School from the Ministry of Education, UAE
  • English Language Proficiency in either of these tests is required
  • TOEFL- iBT higher than 61

No, there is no standard country admission test required for an admission to MBBS in United Arab Emirates. However, a university may have an entrance test followed by a small online interview that the students must qualify to be eligible to be admitted at the university as a student. Qualifying NEET is a mandatory requirement for an Indian medical aspirant.

To be eligible to apply for MBBS in United Arab Emirates, a candidate must be minimum 17 years old as on 31st December in the year of applying for admission with 12 years of schooling. Studying Physics, Chemistry and Biology 10th, 11th & 12th is an essential criterion. An Indian national must also have studies English along with these 3 compulsory subjects. A minimum percentage of 75% or equivalent form a recognized board is required. Indian applicant must be NEET qualified. English proficiency test scores must also be presented by the applicants (for scores in language test, please check the detailed eligibility criteria). A student must be medically fit and must obtain the Equivalency Certificate of their High School from Ministry of Education, UAE.

The fee for the study of medicine at UAE varies from university to university. As the country offers quality education, world class infrastructure and in-depth clinical knowledge, education and living is expensive in UAE. The average tuition fee for the study of medicine ranges from AED 117639 to AED 122540 yearly. As per the current currency rate, the annually tuition fee goes above 24,00,000/- Rs. The other expenses of the university include the accommodation, visa renewal, insurance, application fee and examination fee. Students and parents must have a proper financial planning to study in an expensive country like UAE.

MBBS in UAE is a 5/6 years course. With some universities the course duration for MBBS in UAE is 5 years while with the others it is a 6 years course. Dubai Medical College has 5 years course while Gulf Medical University offers 6 years medicine program.
