General Facts

IELTS Reading Section

The reading section comprises general questions on the topics relevant for the candidates who want to get undergraduate and postgraduate courses from abroad.

  • The reading section comprises of 40 questions which are majorly in Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Identification of data for sentence completion, short answer questions, identifying the views of the writer etc.
  • The duration of this reading exam is 60 minutes.

IELTS Writing Section

In the writing section, the candidates will be judged and evaluated on the basis of their skills to fluently and smoothly write a report or a short essay on the given topic.

  • In this section of the IELTS examination, there are only two questions. For the 1st question, the students appearing for the exam will be given a diagram, data, or a table and accordingly they will have to provide the information to the questions in their own words. The word limit of this answer should be of not more than 150 words.
  • In the second question, the students are asked to provide their answer on the argument, or their point of view on the given problem. The main objective behind this is to assess the student on his/her opinion, ideas, justification and logical reasoning they provide for their answer. The candidate will be given 60 minutes in total to write answer to both the questions of this section.

IELTS Listening Section

The listening section of the IELTS test is bifurcated into four separate parts where the students will be provided with audio clips as questions. Out of those audio clips, the first clip would be about some social needs of the society, the other two audio clips would be about the situations regarding education. The clips will be for duration of 3 minutes approximately and will be run for only once. It could be in the form of a dialogue or a monologue. On the basis of these audio clips,note completion, short-answers, Multiple Choice Questions and several other types of questions will be asked.

  • Audio Clip 1- A social contexts related Dialogue
  • Audio 2- A Monologue about the social issues of everyday
  • Audio 3- A conversation regarding education between 4 people
  • Audio 4- A Monologue on any academic topic or subject.

IELTS Speaking Section

The speaking section is conducted in the pattern of an interview which is conducted to check the basic communication skills of the students. It would basically judge the English proficiency of the student and how well he or she can converse in English. The speaking section of IELTS is a three-tier process, which will start with the student first has to give a short introduction and after that an individual long-run, and the final session will comprise of in-depth discussion.

Part 1 (Introduction)
