The total number of students enrolled in 31 state and private institutions in Moldova is 1,26,500 according to the census of 2015. A total of 6200 faculty members have been recruited at Moldova’s universities and institutions that maintain an average teacher student ratio of 1:20. Education in Moldova starts in the age of 5-6 years and graduation in the age of 17 years. The school session in Moldova starts in the month of September to the month of July. Secondary school is divided into two major parts- Lower Secondary or gymnasium as it is called or grades 5-9. The level of Lyceum calls for an entrance exam which a gymnasium graduate must qualify before admission.
Lyceum, also termed as upper secondary school includes grades 10-12. A graduate from this level qualifies to receive the general certificate of completion. A Diploma of Bacalaureat is awarded to the students if they wish to write and qualify the national baccalaureate exam
Higher education program is offered by both the public & private universities, academics and institutes. It can take 4-5 years for the completion of degree from these institutes depending upon the chosen upper secondary education.
