Belarusian State Medical University is a leading institution for higher medical studies and its history dates back to the year 1921 where it was affiliated with the medical department of the Belarusian State University. The institution deserves international prestige and recognition because of the quality of education it imparts and its contribution in the research field. It became a separate university in the year 1930. Located in the capital city of Minsk, the university specializes in Medicine and Dentistry.

Gradually the other faculties were also developed in the university, namely.

  • The Dentistry faculty established in 1960
  • The Faculty of Pediatrics and Faculty of Preventive Medicine established in the year 1964
  • The Medical Faculty of International students established in 1967
  • The Faculty of Military established in 1995
  • The faculty of Pharmaceutics established in 2010
  • The Faculty of Career Guidance and Prevocational Training established in 2012

Initially known as Minsk State Medical Institute, was renamed as Belarussian State Medical University in the year 2001. It has been the leading education providing institute since then. The institute also received the prestigious award of “The Order of Red Banner of Labor” in the year 1971 for its contributions in the field of medical education.

The university has an academic staff of 880 members with higher degrees in their respective fields and is also engaged in scientific work. BSMU’s Central Research library has been functional since 1954. There are 43 clinical and 29 theoretical departments in the university coordinating the academic progress and corresponding faculties of the university. BSMU has adopted practical approach to educate its students. Around 70% of the classes focus on practical implementation of the subject. At present, the university has approx 1000 local students and around 400 international students including students from India too.  The quality of education and low fee structure fascinate the students to study MBBS in Belarus. BSMU degree is recognized globally and the medium of instruction is English.

The capital city of Minsk experiences a moderate climate with cool humid winters where the average temperature is ?4°C to -8°C and warm summers with an average temperature of 18°C. The rainy season in Belarus starts in April and continues till October with an average annual rainfall of 600-700mm. Belarus experiences 75- 125 days of annual snowfall season.
