The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is a public university located in Preston, Lancashire, England. Founded in 1828 as the Institution for the Diffusion of Knowledge, it was granted university status in 1992. UCLan has a student population of over 33,000, including over 5,000 international students from over 100 countries. It offers over 200 undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs across its five faculties of Arts and Humanities, Health and well-being, Science and Technology, and Social Sciences and Law. UCLan also has a research and innovation center, the Preston Research and Innovation Centre, as well as a business incubator, the UCLan Innovation Factory.

Eligibility

University of Central Lancashire Entry Criteria

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has a range of entry criteria depending on the course you are applying for. 

For undergraduate courses, the minimum entry requirement is two A Levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications and/or experience. You may also be required to provide additional qualifications such as GCSEs and/or a portfolio of work. 

To apply for a postgraduate course, you will need a good Honours degree (2:2 or above). Some courses may require a higher degree classification and/or additional qualifications such as GCSEs or a portfolio of work. 

UCLan also offers a range of foundation courses for applicants who do not meet the minimum entry requirements for a degree. These courses provide an introduction to the subject you are interested in and provide you with the opportunity to progress to a degree course. 

International students may need to provide additional qualifications such as an English language qualification, depending on the course. UCLan also provides a range of Pre-sessional English language courses to help students improve their language skills before starting their degree.

Admission Process :

  • The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has a range of admission requirements, depending on the course you are applying for. Generally, the minimum entry requirement for most UCLan courses is a minimum of 2 A-levels or equivalent qualifications. Other requirements may include a minimum number of UCAS points, a portfolio, an interview, and a personal statement. If you are applying to a postgraduate course, you may also need a minimum of a 2:2 degree or equivalent.
  • You can apply online for most UCLan courses. You can also apply in person at the Admissions Office in Preston. 
  • The application fee for UCLan is £20 for UK and EU applicants. The application fee for international applicants is £50.
