Eligibility

University of Galway Entry Criteria

Interested EU/Non-EU residents are required to satisfy a list of entry qualifications before enrolling in distinct courses and programs at the University of Galway such as:

  • The competent aspirants should be enrolled in any academic institution or completed their studies up to level 3 program or senior secondary education or any equivalent program with a minimum score of 65% or above.
  • An applicant shall complete the enrolment application with relevant and valid details including the required paperwork. Such form must be submitted before the closing date.
  • Students should qualify required English Language Proficiency Assessment in cases where the entrant does not come from an English background by appearing in exams like IELTS with a minimum 5.5 to 6.5 band or equivalence exam. 
  • Interested overseas candidates who are either EU or non-EU residents subject to migration directives within the entrée point in Ireland shall apply for a study permit at the migration facility. Such a visa application form might take at least six weeks or more to complete the immigration process.
  • The inhabitants of EU/non-EU countries must enroll within GNIB [Grada General Migration Agency] within one month or 30 days after their advent in Irish territory. Before enrolling at the GNIB eligible applicants shall register at the nominated college and accumulate a confirmation letter to show their academic status from the prescribed admission authority. Moreover, evidence subject to health insurance coverage is also mandatory for student permit forms and to further enroll at GNIB.
  • Even applicants are advised to plan and manage their budget to oversee expenses apart from academic fees including living outlays for overseas students ranging up to €1,200 every month approx. It includes additional costs like accommodation, nutrition, stationery, academic materials, and innovation prospects.
