The Semey Medical University laid its foundation in the year 1953 in the Semey city, a region of East Kazakhstan. This is the 1st Medical University in Kazakhstan who started English medium Foreign medical batch in 1997 has made its name among Indians as it has been recruiting Indian medical aspirants for a long time as of now. This is one of the major medical universities in the East region. The university enrols 150 plus Indian students each year to teach medicine. It ensures that the students are given best of education and practical exposure. The university has associated hospitals in its vicinity that make it easy for the students to study and gain practical exposure at the same time. Being one of the oldest institutions of study in Kazakhstan, the university is very popular among the students. Climate:

The clime of this city is very suitable for student settlement and survival. Semy city has a semi-arid climate. It is warm in summers and cold in winters which make it very suitable for Indians to accommodate and adapt to the environment. This area has low precipitation but again July experiences the most precipitation with an average of around mm rainfall. The winters are really chilly in Semey region. The lowest recorded temperature during winters had been -48.6°C in the year 1938. The highest recorded temperature in summers was 42.5°C in the year 2002.

Air: The airport at Semey is located approximately 10kms from the city centre and serves a large number of airlines. It connects well to the Almaty and Astana airport. There are domestic flights almost throughout the day connecting the ports. The railways are connected with Almaty where one can easily find trains to commute within the country.

Campus Location

Located in the Semey region of Kazakhstan, the university manages and ensures the best surrounding for the students without a doubt. The first settlement in the city was in the year 1718 where the first very Russian base had settled and that too near a destroyed Buddhist monastery. That is one main reason why this monastery was restored as a fort and used as a base. It had seven stories and thus the name Semi Paatinsh (meaning seven chambered city) became its name until 2007. It is situated near the Irtysh River and has a rich history to itself as well.
